4. Program Introduction:
The program “International Chinese Language Education” was established in 2008 and began enrollment in 2009. It received support from Hubei Province’s “Jingchu Excellence” Teacher Collaborative Education Program in 2018. To date, the program has produced 11 cohorts of graduates, with a current enrollment of 200 students. The program boasts 15 full-time faculty members, including 1 Professor, 7 Associate Professors, and 7 Lecturers. Among them, 11 faculty members hold doctoral degrees.
This program is designed to develop well-rounded individuals who demonstrate comprehensive growth in moral character, intellectual capacity, physical health, aesthetic appreciation, and practical labor skills. Graduates will acquire a robust foundation in both Chinese and English languages, alongside specialized knowledge and competencies in Chinese language and literature, Chinese culture, and intercultural communication. The curriculum aims to foster students with strong ethical values, lofty ideals and beliefs, a pronounced sense of social responsibility, and a global outlook, thereby equipping them to meet the demands of future professional and societal developments. Graduates will be prepared to assume roles as advanced applied and interdisciplinary professionals, capable of contributing to sectors such as journalism, publishing, cultural management, and various enterprises and institutions involved in Sino-foreign cultural exchange.
The Culture and Communication specialization within the International Chinese Language Education program promotes the seamless integration of theoretical knowledge and practical application through a comprehensive and methodologically rigorous curriculum in cultural communication. This is achieved by leveraging contemporary technological advancements in instructional delivery and by developing innovative new media practice platforms. Graduates are well-prepared to embark on professional careers in news media organizations, publishing firms, and publicity departments within governmental bodies, enterprises, and institutions, where they may engage in cultural communication and content planning activities.

6. Faculty Strength:
The faculty team for the Culture and Communication specialization is highly qualified. It includes one Outstanding Young Scholar in Applied Linguistic Research (4th Batch) recognized by the National Language Commission. Furthermore, two faculty members have secured research projects funded by the National Social Science Fund.
7. Student Achievements and Awards
Students of the International Chinese Language Education program possess excellent professional competence and strong comprehensive abilities. In recent years, they have achieved outstanding awards in competitions closely related to cultural communication, such as the “Internet +” College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the National English Competition for College Students (NECCS), and the National Traditional Culture Knowledge Competition for University Students. Meanwhile, students have actively participated in volunteer services for events like the Wuhan Military World Games and the Wuhan Open Tennis Tournament, making remarkable contributions to Sino-foreign cultural exchange.

8. Career Prospects
In recent years, graduates of the International Chinese Language Education program have primarily embarked on careers in cultural communication-related fields, with a significant number employed in the internet industry and new media companies. Additionally, a portion of students have been admitted to postgraduate programs at prestigious 985/211 universities, pursuing further studies in Modern & Contemporary Chinese Literature, Comparative Literature & World Literature, and Linguistics & Applied Linguistics. Our graduates are now working in publishing houses in cities like Beijing and Wuhan, leading companies such as ByteDance and iFlytek, as well as media operations departments across various enterprises and public institutions.
Notable alumni include: Li Shuxian, who was admitted to the Communication University of China through a merit-based recommendation; Jin Ruiyang, who joined Fangda Group Co., Ltd.; and Li Jiayu, who is engaged in Sinology research at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) in Germany.

Upon graduation, students can pursue careers in fields such as language application, instructional management, and educational research.

The faculty team for the Smart Education is highly competent. It includes one WIT Distinguished Teacher, one National-Level Mandarin Proficiency Test Examiner, one Provincial-Level Mandarin Proficiency Test Examiner, one teacher holding an International Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and two teachers with extensive overseas teaching experience.
7. Student Awards & Achievements:
Students demonstrate strong proficiency in both Chinese and English, along with robust language teaching abilities. In recent years, they have achieved outstanding awards in national-level teaching competitions and the “Internet+” College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which is closely aligned with the educational domain. In 2021, one student won the first prize (ranking the third nationally) in the Global Volunteer Chinese Micro-teaching Competition. Through these various competitions, students have significantly enhanced their capabilities in educational informatization and teaching skills.

In recent years, graduates specializing in the Smart Education within International Chinese Language Education program have primarily found employment in domestic and international higher education institutions, primary and secondary schools, and international schools. Additionally, a number of students have been admitted to pursue Master’s degrees in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages at prestigious 985/211 universities.
Notable alumni include: Chen Jianmei, who was admitted to Nanjing University; Yang Si, who gained admission to Beijing Foreign Studies University and later taught Chinese in France; and Si Jiaming, who became the founder of the Mandarin Mates Chinese School.
